I've only been with Plusnet a couple of months, but I'm pretty sure the bedding in period is over. I'm fairly frequently getting speeds of around 18-20 mbps, but then I power cycle the router and the speeds shoot back up to around 74 mbps. Is this a sign or a faulty router or is there something else going on here?

I would first check your own network to see if anything is using the network when you see the slower speeds.
Close down any tabs on your pc/laptop, disconnect other devices - odds on it is something updating/tv catch up/someone else streaming or similar, pr worse and you have some trojan stealing bandwidth..

There's nothing on my network that is using the connection whilst I am experiencing the speed issues and I did not have this issue until I switched to Plusnet.
