Thanks Bill. I've booked the engineer and updated the ticket with the appointment details.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Speed dropped off a cliff overnight.

@Gandalf
Engineer's been and gone.

He suggested it's an issue with the Hub as everything works fine with his test equipment. Nnear instant connect and full speed with his equipment but when he tries my router it's slow to connect and the speed is very low.

I've updated the ticket.

I've already done a factory reset of the router a day or so ago and that made no difference. Looks like I might need a new router.

I Do have a TP-Link ADSL Router I could try out for a few days to see if the issue persists with different hardware.

@Bill_C As @Gandalf is obviously on his lunch break - an ADSL modem/router won't work on Fibre.

Re: Speed dropped off a cliff overnight.

I know it's "Vdsl" (typo!) 😉

I'm using the TP-Link TD-W9970 router now. (Picked it up on sale last week)
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/dsl-modem-router/td-w9970/

Will use it over the weekend to see if their is any change to my connection/speeds.

Thanks for the update @Bill_C

Keep me posted on how things go with the new router you've got.

Wizards don't take breaks (Please don't tell my manager that) Smiley

Re: Speed dropped off a cliff overnight.

*edit*
I'm currently on a fixed IP address, would that be an issue? It would not be a huge problem if my fixed IP was changed.

Sunday update.

I've checked / replaced all cables possible in my network.

The line profile is up to 60Mbps but download speed maxed out at 20Mbps
Upload speed is 20Mbps and I'm getting around that speed.

Here's the stats page from my TP-Link modem:
 Connected

  0 Days 0 Hours 12 Minutes
VDSL2
 Annex A
  Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (kbps) 19999 64886
Max Rate (kbps) 22150 85431
SNR Margin (dB) 6.2 4.3
Line Attenuation (dB) 3.5 11.5
Errors (pkts) 0 12

It's "hitting a brick wall" time for me, I can't think of anything else at my end to try/test/replace. Both the Plusnet and TP-Link
routers are giving the same speeds, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.

Open to any and all suggestions? Short of buying something like a Vigor130 But don't think that would make any difference if it's a Openreach / PlusNet issue.

Re: Speed dropped off a cliff overnight.

Thanks for the update @Bill_C

Looking again, from what I can see your sync speed had dropped to around 20mbps last week (Likely as a result of the line fault we detected and the engineer couldn't find).

Following the visit, your sync speed's back up and line tests are still passing now, but a profile on our end hadn't updated to reflect the improved line speed so your download speed is restricted to ~20mbps by our systems.

I've prodded the profile now to the right level, can you reboot your router and retest? I'd also recommend leaving your TP Link modem/router plugged in as it doesn't appear we've got to the bottom of the underlying issue yet.

Re: Speed dropped off a cliff overnight.

@Gandalf Thanks for the reply.

I'll reboot and leave things alone for now.

I just need to tidy cables so I don't end up in A&E Cheesy lol
