Speed drop 70 down to 48mb

My fibre has been a stable 70-72 for the last year, but within the last week it has dropped to 48-49. Last week I experienced quite a few drop outs and needed a modem restart. My Plusnet account says 49mb current speed so something has changed. Would this be a syncing issue?

While waiting for a member of staff to pick this up it would be helpful if you could read this then post the results of the tests.

Re: Speed drop 70 down to 48mb

Great thanks. I can’t run the BT speedtest as I don’t have a flash enabled device.

My Plusnet settings:

Estimated line speed:There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.

Current line speed:49 Mb

The line speed was originally 65-70mb when it was installed nearly 2 years ago.

Re: Speed drop 70 down to 48mb

Thanks for your patience, I've tested your line and I can see that your router is in sync at 50 Mbps which is below your estimate of 64 Mbps. I'd advise to run through the checks at http://faults.plus.net completing the process to raise a fault to us if you need to.

Great, thanks. I've tested the line and reported this fault through to our suppliers for further investigation.

Re: Speed drop 70 down to 48mb

So engineer visit yesterday, found no faults with line and speed was as it should be around 69mb on his equipment. He did a reset and assured me my speeds would return to 65-70mb but may take a day or so to stablise. Anyway the bad news is they have not improved at all and have gone down to 45-48mb so back to square one.

Re: Speed drop 70 down to 48mb

Speed has crept up to 60mb but still not back to my original 72mb. Plusnet have sent me a message saying my fault is now fixed and the speed test falls within their parameters. So is that or anything else I can do? I've had a consistent 70-72 speed for a year now so a little dissapointed it's dropped by 10mb with no sign of recovery.
