Speed down to 4Mbps

For the last fortnight I've had awful problems with wifi.  Not sure if it is relevant but it coincides with getting Sky Q as well as nearby roads being dug up for Cityfibre.

Openreach engineer came out (first thing in morning, when connection tends to be at it's best) and said no faults coming up.  I'd done 2 speed tests that morning and both were 34+ so that was no surprise.  Within an hour of him going it was back to single figures 😞  He suggested getting new router, I've updated my incident to ask for one but no response at all.

Minimum speed is meant to be guaranteed at 30, as usual it has been <8 most of the day but I can guarantee it'll be ~35 later this evening, and again first thing in the morning!

Tried connecting an old BT router but it just wouldn't connect at all.  Oddly, it seems some devices won't connect for hours at a time to wifi (my partner's phone and my work laptop) while others connect but really slow connection.

This is causing me massive issues while trying to work from home, I'm sure my work must think i'm at it as it was fine for long enough then just started playing up recently.  I can be offline/unavailable for hours each day.

Any suggestions welcome 🙂

Re: Speed down to 4Mbps

If possible try a wired connection.

There is no guarantee for WiFi at all as there are too many variables that affect it that no ISP can control.

Also check the sync rate on the router - that is the speed that is guaranteed. A low sync may indicate a fault.

Re: Speed down to 4Mbps

Got a new router sent out, updated my ticket last week to show it made no difference. No contact at all.  Internet barely usable since then (just done BTWholesale test which came out at 1.35 :-().  Anyone know what's the current sort of wait time for responses to tickets?  That's a month now since I raised it and it's worse than ever.

Re: Speed down to 4Mbps

Can you post your connection stats with max attainable rate and actual rate?
