Speed Estimates

Hello,

Just a general question about the speed estimates.. Currently I don't have a BT line so the DSL Checker and PlusNet use the postcode/address lookup to determine my speed. This was 44-60mb which I was happy with..

Out of curiosity I entered a neighbors phone number who I know is on BT (6 houses further away from the Cabinet, same one as I am on) on the same street.

It turns out they can get 56-73mb and are 6 properties further away.

Does this mean I will achieve higher speeds than estimated? Or does it mean the phone number checker is not as accurate?

PS. I am not activated until next week, I am just curious!

Thanks!

Re: Speed Estimates

Fix

Telephone number checker should be more accurate than the address checker when using http://dslchecker.bt.com

Although you address may be closer than your neighbours, as the crow flies, this doesn't necessarily mean the line is shorter to your address unfortunately.

Hopefully when the service is installed you get higher than initial address check estimates, but until installed, it's hard to say.
