Slowest speed ever I've ever had

spped1.png

Rebooting both boxes brought it back up to 30 down

Hi Steve,

Seems odd, are you still having problems today? You've been syncing well at 35/8 since this disconnection last night.

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

I've been been getting a solid 31 down / 6 to 7 up for a long time. Last night nothing was working well and when I did a speed test it showed those results.

Its been fine since - Syfy wasn't glitching at all last night.

Speed test this evening is showing 31.38 down 7.12 up

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

Poor speeds again (down to 11Mb, then up to 22).

Looks Like I'm getting quite a bit of packet loss -f94199fc877caa6664a46eb1e546cd66-12-12-2016

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

Which Gateway are you on? I still had problems on Colindale over the weekend.

You are currently connected to gateway pcn-bng02.

This is located in Colindale Point of Presence.

Good Morning @SteveA,

Is there any chance you can drop me a PM with the link to your live BQM graph please?  We're keen to take a look at the issue.

Reading the hex ID string in Steve A's TBBQ picture gives

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

Yes that's the url.

Speed seems to be OK at the moment : 30 down / 7 up

But packet loss and latency seems to be increasing - its almost as if the minute I put any load on the line it falls apart.

Edited to add : speed now varying between 15 and 28 down. Up seems to be stable

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

@scrookes - Youview box this morning refused to run any on-demand services.

Testing download speed........................................
Download: 3.40 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed..................................................
Upload: 2.30 Mbit/s

You are currently connected to gateway pcn-bng02.

This is located in Colindale Point of Presence.

Then three minutes later

Testing download speed........................................
Download: 31.37 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed..................................................
Upload: 7.10 Mbit/s

BT Speed test doesn't seem to find any problems at all

I guess the Colindale PoP is basically broken.

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

This is getting a bit silly - still at least the packet loss has vanished

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

Hi @SteveA,

How is the Youview box connected (Wired , Wireless , Powerline)?  If using Powerline, have you tried seeing if it improves by making a direct wired connection instead?

We're not seeing any issues at Colindale currently and checking your VLAN status on the Wholesale network does not indicate any congestion.

Re: Slowest speed ever I've ever had

I *think* the youview online TV is delivered to each fibre cab or exchange via multicast.

The TV datastreams do not go via the normal backhaul SVLANs or the Plusnet network.

I am not sure how the youview decryption is enabled / activated but I assume that is via the PN network.

So a PN connection will be required to enable you to watch a data stream separately delivered from the local BT exchange / fibre cab.

Hence, youview picture breakup points to more localised issues.
