Just to draw a close on this... the engineer performed a reset at the box as a lot of work had been going on there owing to other users in the area having speed problems. The reset put my speed back to 11meg, not great but its the best I can get considering the quality of the line and distance from the box. The engineer explained that this can happen again at any time so I will refer to this as a fast track in future.
