Slow fibre download Speeds

I've been noticing for the past few days, dramatically slower download speeds. Buffering on Youtube Videos and even interlaced images on Autotrader etc when loading (like its back in the 90's!). I ran tests at both Speedtest.net and on the BT Wholesale Test (at 11:30pm at night). They are reporting around 5MB download an 9MB upload. When I try to run the advanced test again I get a message saying the Tap1 test was not conclusive and to raise with my service provider.

Re: Slow fibre download Speeds

Hi @RichJ,

I'm sorry that your download speed has dropped and for any inconvenience that this is causing you. I've tested your line but the test hasn't picked up the cause of the issue from here and indicates that your line is currently syncing at 63.6mbps, which is towards the top end of your line's estimated speed of 44-65mbps. For reference, today's test result is as follows:

Re: Slow fibre download Speeds

Fix

Solved... sort of!

So I ran Speedtest App on iPhone (through wifi) and on a Wifi Laptop, both returned 59+ Mbps download.

Seemed to be only my main desktop PC (on a wired connection)

So I rebooted router again - didn't seem to do anything.

Updated Ethernet Drivers - No change but I noticed that the Local Area Connection speed was set at 10 Mbps.

I then switched out the Network Cable and the LAN Speed upped to 100 Mbps.

I then put back the original network cable and LAN Speed jumped to 1.0Gbs

I'm now getting 59+ MBs download and 12.5MBs upload.

I don't know why the setting had changed? - Maybe faulty network cable? Anyway, working again now.

Many Thanks!
