Is anyone else having slow downs around 6pm - 12?
I'm getting half the speed i should be during these times, from a steady 72mb to a barely 32mb. Any clues? Yes i'm using wired before anyone asks
I've tried gateway hopping but always seem to get a BNG gateway
You are currently connected to gateway ptw-bng01.
Thanks

Yes you're not the only one http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,149728.0.html and others say similar things
On a new connection last week I found the throughput very variable until 11pm ish and after reading other threads raised a fault. The suggestion was an engineer visit - of course this is before 6pm - when I really wanted someone at PN to see a systemic network problem and fix it rather than rush round with a pair of wire cutters.
Over the weekend the evening speed test dip got better but actual file downloads were poor - the test at speedof.me the only one giving the same result. Rebooting the hub1 connected to a ang rather than bng gateway and cleared that problem but before any conclusion could be drawn I'm back on bng tonight with high and stable throughput.

I found the problem, it was my wireless was using 2g rather than 5g!
It makes a huge difference in speed that's for sure.
