The resolution in that case was to contact our suppliers quality assurance team to investigate the issue.
They found congestion on the S-VLAN. In your case, they haven't I'm afraid.

What is it in my house that you think keeps breaking at peak times and rectifying itself at non peak times that an enginner could fix? I have already replaced the router.

Sorry to hear you feel that way.
If I remember correctly, we contacted our suppliers QA team after those engineer visits.
I'm more than happy to contact them again, which will have to be tomorrow as they're not open on bank holiday's.

Thanks for waiting.
It looks like the S-VLAN is running hot after all. QA have dug into this deeper, and found that there are other reported speed faults to BT Wholesale regarding circuits on this VLAN.
They've advised me that whilst the throughput is below threshold, since Christmas Eve it's been spiking and has pretty much reached the threshold, so they've arranged to move your circuit to another VLAN which should complete tomorrow.
I'll update your ticket/send you an e-mail with more detail.

That's good to hear. Apologies for the length of time it's taken to reach this point. I believe this is being discussed in the superuser board to see if we can put steps in place to make improvements for diagnosing these types of issues.
