Self install or not?

I'm on PN ADSL in an area that's just started accepted orders for FTTC (Lydney exchange, cab10). When I go through the upgrade process in the member centre, it shows a picture of the Hub One, but then insists on an engineer appointment? I thought all upgrades were now self-install? I was looking forward to not having to take a day off...

Hi Churchfield,
for upgrades these are still being booked with appointments, but if you put the upgrade through and PM me once you have I'll cancel that engineer install and get you a self-install for the earliest date available

Seems Openreach are on the ball today, the order has been accepted and committed to, completion date of the 28th, all you'll need to do is make sure to connect the new router

As I posted in another thread on this Forum, what's the logic here? Surely a managed install costs PN much more than self-install?
