Router suggestions

Hi I’m currently using the BT smart hub 6 but it’s rubbish. I live in a 1 bedroom flat but it’s not very good with thick walls on long range.

Looking at getting the tp-link vr600 ac1600. Anyone else using this with Plusnet?

Re: Router suggestions

If you think that the Smarthub is rubbish then you could find that spending lots of money buys you something that’s not much better.

Have you considered running an Ethernet cable or a Poweline network to the other part of your property and installing a Wireless Access Point on the end? This may be helpful regarding Powerline devices  https://community.plus.net/t5/Tech-Help-Software-Hardware-etc/Powerline-Unit-Performance/m-p/1607450...

Incidentally have you  tried separating the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands on the Smarthub in case that this is the problem? See Section 12 here. https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/m-p/1587673#M85.... Try each band in turn.

Re: Router suggestions

BT's latest Hub......whilst not cheap, do they not guarantee a signal in any part of your house ?

Re: Router suggestions

I think I maybe getting confused 😂 The signal is fine I’m getting full signal strength on my iPhone.

It’s when I go onto Twitter it’s loading tweets but not showing pictures. When I turn WiFi off and go onto 4G it shows the pictures. All other apps are fine. I’m getting 67mbps so I’m a little confused by it.

Re: Router suggestions

This is an indication that you need to separate the two bands as I suggested earlier. Just try it, it will take all of a couple of minutes and cost you nothing.
