Restricted Mode?

Hi
Over the past week or so I've had problems connecting to certain websites or problems loading certain pages in websites (not those type of websites!!!). Certain videos in Youtube can't be loaded, News pages on the Indy newspaper site, certain android App sites. My browser (Chrome) wont allow me to change 'safe search'. I am admin on my laptop and all indications while I am trouble shooting suggest it may be my ISP who holds responsibility. Anyone else got this problem? (Win 10)

Re: Restricted Mode?

You could have fallen foul of this https://community.plus.net/t5/Plusnet-Feedback/IP-addresses-not-UK-Can-customers-please-report-any-p...

If you switch off your router for an hour or so then with a bit of luck you will pick up a different IP address which might fix your problem.

If you post a link to the web sites you can't access here then others can see if they can get access.

Re: Restricted Mode?

Hi @Cullen,

As @Baldrick1 has advised, could you powercycle your equipment to try and force a new IP to be assigned on the connection to see if this resolves the issue. Currently your connection has been up for nearly a month solidly so if the issue has only been ongoing for a week it could be something else.

Also with reference to the post quoted the IP assigned to you currently is in the 91. range so I don't believe it would be affected by the issues noted there.

It could be worth posting a list of some of the sites you're unable to access. Also does the laptop have any proxy settings imposed on the browser?

Re: Restricted Mode?

There seems to be some similarity between the problematic websites:
https://www.independent.co.uk/
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/
https://forum.mobilism.org/ucp.php?mode=login&sid=ecfca2161fb905e29275d7f934fe4e3c

I'll try the powercycle tonight.
Thanks

Re: Restricted Mode?

They are all accessible for me both with Firefox and Edge browsers.

Re: Restricted Mode?

To add to my last post I have just tried the three again on my Google Chrome browser with the browser VPN destination set to the east coast of the USA, all three still work. Consequently I doubt that this is a geolocation problem.

I'd still try a power cycle of the router to see if it helps.
