Re: Request GEA

Thanks. I have to kept an eyes on my line because since this morning something is so strange getting more errored seconds on downstream rather than upstream. Nothing has changed for modem, line etc. The downstream SNR has playing up since this morning was all over the place varies from 4.6dB to 6.2dB

Max: Upstream rate = 24585 Kbps, Downstream rate = 77305 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps, Downstream rate = 80000 Kbps

Re: Request GEA

Hi @goldenfibre,

Checking the SNR margin for your downstream, I can see that it has decreased over the last 24 hours and this is likely the reason you have seen an increase in errors. As the connection has been stable for 25 days, DLM may have started to reduce the SNR in an effort to increase performance but this would be unusual with the sync rate being 79.9Mbps.

Let us know if the circuit starts to perform poorly or drops out intermittently.

Thank you.

Re: Request GEA

Hi PN

24 hours are 324 errored seconds and 39 serverly errored seconds on downstream. So far no DLM act. But, I do think my FTTC cabinet are now target SNR 3dB in place? I am not sure.

Re: Request GEA

Hi there, I've just checked and the profile is set correctly and hasn't been set on 3db.

Re: Request GEA

@adamwalker I was told No need to worry about DLM intervention with those error rates - you'd need to be up at 60-120 ES/hour (depending on your ISP) to be in the red. Is that correct?

Re: Request GEA

Hi @goldenfibre

Honestly, I have no idea. We do not have access to the level of detail in terms of our suppliers DLM software that would be required to prove/disprove that statement.

Perhaps other members of the community or your original source might be able to shed some more light on this for you?

Best wishes

Dave

Re: Request GEA

Oh dear, it looks like the next time their modem re-syncs, @goldenfibre might end up with less than the full 80Mb. If not having the full 80Mb is intolerable, I'd recommend cancelling the service entirely. Or just live with less than the full 80Mb.

Re: Request GEA

Can't do anything about it if it resync at between 70meg to 74meg but I am sure DLM will try target 3dB Snr to get the sync rate higher than this handback speed

Re: Request GEA

PN

The errored seconds on both downstream and upstream are now ZERO overnight. SNR are now above 5dB and below 6dB. Still at 80/20. No DLM so far.
