Remote Administration

I have ben having problems recently where my BT HomeHub 5 router drops all connections.  Checking the log shows a lot of blocked 'Remote Administrator' attempts as follows -09:46:41, 31 Dec. IN: BLOCK [16] Remote administration (TCP [95.128.185.134]:16262->[146.199.153.116]:80 on ppp3) 09:36:29, 31 Dec. IN: BLOCK [16] Remote administration (TCP [1.171.26.63]:21623->[146.199.153.116]:8080 on ppp3) 09:35:04, 31 Dec. IN: BLOCK [16] Remote administration (TCP [115.238.245.11]:9090->[146.199.153.116]:22 on ppp3) 09:32:10, 31 Dec. IN: BLOCK [16] Remote administration (TCP [91.245.76.159]:49281->[146.199.153.116]:80 on ppp3) 09:22:48, 31 Dec. IN: BLOCK [16] Remote administration (TCP [194.61.24.107]:48142->[146.199.153.116]:22 on ppp3) 09:21:08, 31 Dec. IN: BLOCK [16] Remote administration (TCP [194.147.32.50]:54616->[146.199.153.116]:22 on ppp3)

Is this normal or an attempt to hack (with firewall blocking)?

Re: Remote Administration

Hi @athol49

Whilst we are not able to provide diagnostic assistance or Tech Support on 3rd party routers, I will say that these drops do not seem to match with your RADIUS logs;

There are one or two drops in connection as you can see, I would suggest connecting to your test Socket and seeing if these drops stop. Information on how to locate your Test Socket can be found here

There are a lot of people who use HH5's on the forums, i'm sure one of them will be able to provide an answer to your initial question - I'm just sorry that we are unable to assist further in this matter.

Kind Regards,

MoR

Re: Remote Administration

@MasterOfReality

The problem I was enquiring about was the multiple Remote Administration entries being blocked by the router.  I found out, from another thread, that these are attempts to hack into my computer but the firewall is doing it's job.

I mentioned the multiple boots as the reason I was checking the logs when I found all the 'Remote Administration' entries.

I had another thread regarding the frequent boots and @  diagnosed a failing BT HomeHub 5 router and arranged for a new Plusnet Hub One to be sent ot as Outreach did not instal a Fibre Modem when they installed my original Infinity broadband.

I have recieved this and am testing it and it appears to have solved the problem.
