Alex - 'Slow Internet' problem again this morning 15 Jan 2019 - problem with both Firefox/Chrome browsers, remedied again with Windows 7 Restart:

[2] 10:54 am - first launch failure Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018

- Chrome 71.0.3578.98 (x64) - BT HH6 Manager http://192.168.1.254/ - 'waiting to open'

[3] 10:58 am - Windows 7 restart; BT HH6 Manager http://192.168.1.254/ OK opens

- Firefox - BT HH6 event log extract straddling Adobe PSE last launch success/first unsuccessful launch:

10:57:34  15 Jan. eth1:IGMP join received for group 224.1.0.38 on interface eth1
10:55:28  15 Jan. eth1:IGMP join received for group 224.1.0.38 on interface eth1
10:53:23  15 Jan. eth1:IGMP join received for group 224.1.0.38 on interface eth1

10:49:17  15 Jan. eth1:IGMP join received for group 224.1.0.38 on interface eth1

A thought: which operating conditions prevent/significantly delay the launch of the BT Home Hub 5/6 managers ?

Thanks for the update.

Not sure to be honest, probably something beyond our scope for support being a 3rd party router, but as far as I'm aware the only limitation would be the connection between your router and your devices.

Sorry if you've tried this but have you tried a different device?

"Sorry if you've tried this but have you tried a different device?" - yes, as part of the network, with no problem evident.

Unfortunately, the primary PC (Win 7 Pro x64) is the only option for routinely managing the HH6 router.

Ah fair.

It may be worth trying to get ahold of a different device to connect to the router as the next step.

Re: Really slow connection last 2 days @ similar time of day

PN Tech Support have suggested:

"i believe that from the information you hve given me and the test i have done that you have a wifi issue. To fix this you would need to change the wireless channel to another via logging into the router. as this is not one we have supplied i cannot give any technical help but would go direct to the manufactures website"

There is only one Wifi device which uses the BT HH6 router (Samsung TV, currently off), and inSSIDer Lite currently tells me: "No Wifi Adapters Detected", as expected.

I'm willing to try the BT HH6 Wifi channel-changing suggestion - can anyone suggest an article which gives some guidance for optimising the selection. TIA.

Re: Really slow connection last 2 days @ similar time of day

18 Jan 2019: BT HH6 Manual rescan 'Separate Bands' for Wifi

- 2.4GHz now Channel 6 (was Channel 11)
- 5GHz unchanged Channel 36

and no obvious problems since.

Re: Really slow connection last 2 days @ similar time of day

FYI I've encountered a few more, but less frequent, instances of 'slow internet', characterised by an inability to launch Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 (which requires an Internet connection).

However, a work-round, with minimal inconvenience, is simply to log-off/log-on in Windows (maybe it's resetting a limiting parameter for the HH6 router ?).   Also, I'm no longer finding that the fault condition is hindering access to the HH6 manager via http://192.168.1.254

Hi @Davexxx, thanks for getting back to us, are you seeing any other issues which suggests a slow speed, other than through Adobe?

Re: Really slow connection last 2 days @ similar time of day

Does it give any particular errors?

I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to investigate the issue if it's only that program affected

Matthew,

"Does it give any particular errors?"

No - other than not launching.   This seems to be a residual problem, which I can live with.
