Random kick from online gaming.

Looking to shed some light on a recurring issue that i am having.

Since switching from Sky to Plusnet every night when i am either playing Battlefield or FIFA 17 online i get kicked from the EA network but do not get kicked from the internet or the PS4 network. Now this seems to happen every night at different times. My PS4 is connected via ethernet cable and all my other Wifi devices seem to work fine.

When i pulled the router logs after tonights one i seen the following:

20:25:26, 15 Mar. (76784.190000) Lease for IP 192.168.1.68 renewed by host Unknown-7a-1f-29-d2-1e-02 (MAC 7a:1f:29:d2:1e:02). Lease duration: 1440 min
20:25:26, 15 Mar. (76784.190000) Device connected: Hostname: Unknown-7a-1f-29-d2-1e-02 IP: 192.168.1.68 MAC: 7a:1f:29:d2:1e:02 Lease time: 1440 min. Link rate: 144.4 Mbps
20:25:26, 15 Mar. (76784.130000) Lease requested

Now looking back through from previous nights i notice i am getting the same "lease requested" entry each time i get kicked from online gaming. I spoke to Plusnet via the chat function this evening and got a helpful fellow called Martin and he pointed me to make sure my ports were open. I did this and then tried to play again, lo and behold i get the same issue. I tried the chat again and got a not so helpful lady called Lily, who quite frankly seemed clueless and pretty much said i needed a 3rd party router and didn't give me any help or info at all, quite unprofessional in my opinion.

So any help on the above matter would be most appreciative.

Steven

Hi.

Thanks for the suggestion. Seen as this is happening on a console then punkbuster doesn't come into play. On my desktop PC I don't experience any sort of kicks.

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

Hey Jester,

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having a similar problem on BF1 also since swapping from Sky to Plusnet. Every other game I've tried connects fine, it seems to just be on BF1. Been happening for two days now, tried opening ports and assigning PS4 to DMZ. No dice. Sad

Thanks,

LB

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

Hi,

Nice to see I'm not the only one. I haven't had any joy from Plusnet, but TBH i haven't contacted them since since the rude chat experience i had. I experienced the same issue with FIFA now so what i have now done is removed the LAN cable and trying wireless. So far i haven't seen anymore drop outs with FIFA so i will try BF1 this evening to see if that has helped.

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

Interesting. I haven't tried LAN cable yet, just running on wireless.

Seems to be something about EA's servers, it's incredibly strange. Gonna try and do some more tinkering tonight, if I can't get it working I'm gonna end up trading in BF1 Sad bleh

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

I just don't get how it can be an EA server issue because i never once had this issue with Sky. I might be inclined to buy a decent 3rd party router before parting with games etc. I did a bit of research and some of the new Plusnet hubs could be faulty.

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

I mean as in EA servers not playing nice with Plusnet / Plusnet router. I tried three other multiplayer games last night that were non-EA, all of them worked. It's solely BF1. So weird.

Ah ok, that's weird. New router will be my next port of call if i don't get any joy from trying this latest fix.

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

Update. Turns out I hadn't forwarded my ports properly. Did this and BF1 allowed me to connect.

However, while I can connect, I'm getting very noticeable lag / rubber banding. It's not game breaking but certainly quite irritating. I just tried BF4 on PC as well and I'm getting the same problem, it's definitely something to do with Plusnet / Plusnet router not playing ball with EA servers. What is happening?

Is a new router really the answer here? PS4 is on static IP and is in DMZ, ports forwarded, UPNP switched on.

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

Okay, fixed it. Ports need to be forwarded correctly and UPNP needs to be turned OFF. This solved my connection issues and lag in both BF1 and BF4.

EA servers must not get along with UPNP on Plusnet router, never had this trouble on my old Sky one. Oh well, fixed now Smiley

Re: Random kick from online gaming.

Fix

Bit of an update,

It would definitely seem that some EA servers do not like the Plusnet Hub. I switched to an Asus modem router and have had no issues ever since.
