Hi,
Having installed my new RT-N66UI I now have two wi-fi networks showing on my computer, the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz network. Why have two, the 5ghz is significantly quicker so why use the 2.4ghz network ? I'm sure there is a very good reason, I'm just interested to know the answer !
Thanks.

The 2.4 Ghz signal has a much greater range & a lot of devices will only connect to the 2.4 Ghz signal.

Thanks, that would explain the difference in signal strength between the 2.4 and 5 when I move further away from the router.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Particularly affects old houses with some really solid brick and plaster internal walls and especially cottages with 2 foot thick stone walls.
