Hello, is it possible to be assigned a public IP for my broadband connection? Cheers.

Re: Public IP

All connections have a public IP address, what are you trying to achieve?

Do you mean that you want a static IP address? All internet connections have a public IP address - you wouldn't be able to receive any data otherwise. However most residential connections have a dynamic IP address meaning that you (potentially at least) get a new one every time you connect to the service. For some applications this is problematic so the option exists to have a static IP address which means that no matter how many times you connect you always get the same public address.

There aren't all that many reasons why a residential customer would want one though. I have one because I run a mail server.

Re: Public IP

To order a static IP, go to https://www.plus.net/my.html?action=myconnection and click on Static IP. Follow the instructions.

There is a one off cost of £5 for the service.
