Profile update requested

I  recently upgraded to 78/20 but my actual speed of 47/14 is nowhere near the estimate, I contacted chat yesterday and asked him to check my set up, he said I was wrongly on the 50 profile and that he corrected it to 80 and to reboot the router after 10 minutes

I have done this yesterday and this morning as well but still getting 47/14, could someone please check that my profile has changed to 80, or am I doing something wrong.

Re: Profile update requested

What does BTW ADSL Checker state your line supports, and what are PN reporting your line profile as.

Re: Profile update requested

Sorry are you saying that the BTW Checker states your line only supports 54Mb? if that's the case then that is all you'll get unfortunately.

If you could capture a screenshot of the BTW Checker and paste it here to end any confusion. Remember to edit your phone number.

Re: Profile update requested

the btw checker says my"connection speed" is 49.42 surely this governed by the speed being supplied by plusnet and was borne out by the chat guy saying it was wrongly set at 50

Re: Profile update requested

went onto chat and asked to check--he came up with this

OK, BT network issue is being detected that is causing the speed to synchronise at 51Mbps, I am just going to get this reported up now.

Afraid not, the speed shown there on the speedtest is based on the sync speed directly from your modem/router to the cabinet.

The person you spoke to on chat did the wrong thing, and from the sound of it confused matters to. The only thing they changed is a profile on our side, which does not at all affect the sync speed of your line. This is what is now showing as 78Mb.

As you're below the estimate it'll need reporting to us as a speed fault at https://faults.plus.net

Re: Profile update requested

I can see there's a fault open and reported, thanks.

Looking further at your account I can see there were quite a few disconnections yesterday:

Testing your line is erroring, so it has already been reported through to our suppliers for more investigation.

Re: Profile update requested

Try to keep router restarts to a minimum, if the line is seen as unstable then it can cause the speed to reduce.

Re: Profile update requested

my PC is connected to the hub one via an access point(old router via cat6 Ethernet cable)

hub one(lan1)>>>cat6>>>plusnet router(access)lan1>>>lan2>>> cat 6>>>pc

this worked ok before and it is unchanged set up from previous, I could run the cable without going thro the access point
