Power cut = better upload speed?

Hey guys, before the power cut happened my connection had been on for around 12 straight days, no disconnects and around 50 mb down 5.5 up, the upload is way below estimate of 20 mb on a clean line according to the dslchecker but no fault found or anything from bt, the whole neighborhood just had a power cut and iv got an extra meg on my upload! .

I thought disconnects lower speed though? Snr is 6.0/6.0 is this bad?

We had 3 Power cuts in a row and i still have 6.5 mb upload lol, what is this sorcery! If bt say all my line can handle is 5.5 mb how can a power cut give me more speed? I bet if I restart my router it will go back down again

Re: Power cut = better upload speed?

I believe that an event such as a power cut, which affects a large number of customers, is ignored by DLM. You presumably were re-connected after the cut at a time when line conditions were rather better than the last time you connected, resulting in a higher speed.

Fibre DLM is not a quick thing to make changes, it also helps if there is the occasional resync.

Re: Power cut = better upload speed?

I definitely think I need a DLM reset then lol I used to have nearly max speeds for a long time till one day they dropped, probably over a year ago now so doubt playing the waiting game is going to help lol.
