Potentially high SNR

Hi - Can I kindly request that a CS rep take a look at my line/  Profile and perhaps run a GEA test

Many in this forum would no doubt kill for my current 66mb d/l and 18-19mb upload  ( speeds as per Fast.net ) so apologies to those struggling with speeds .

My SNR  appears to be higher than historic figures  - Hub stats ( taken a few min ago ) attached  ( BT Business hub)  -  it was suggested that my Line might be banded ! ( previous achievable line speeds have been circa 72-75mb d/l ( admittedly some time ago ) and SNR figure had been stable at 6.0 for d/l  it's now showing as 8.8 !

Many thanks

Re: Potentially high SNR

Fix

Thanks for your post @moansalot

A throughput of 66mbps is about right for your sync speed of 74mbps, because there's retransmission high enabled on your line, which takes a chunk of your speed unfortunately, bringing the line speed down to 70mbps.

Your line's banded though at 74mbps so I've arranged for this to be removed within the next 3 working days.

Let us know how it goes. I've attached our testing below as well:

Re: Potentially high SNR

@Gandalf -  Thanks for the prompt reply  - I'll keep a check on this over the next few days with fingers crossed -

For info note on the GEA test results you posted there is a mention of regular interference detected / customer premise !

I have only recieved one drop of service - green light on hub (that I have noticed which was yesterday morning)  otherwise and all testing done with Ethernet direct to the hub ( which is permamently connected to the test socket and has been for sometime )  - so not sure where the regular interference that was detected  is coming from  - mmm

Thanks Paul

Re: Potentially high SNR

No problem Paul, I'd take the interference detected with a pinch of salt as it may not be affecting your service.

Hi Paul,

It could be coming from a multitude of sources!!

If there is local interference you are only going to identify that by micro monitoring your router.  If it is the Plusnet Hub One (which is a BT Hub 5A) then the appropriate version of Router stats (link below) might be useful.

Re: Potentially high SNR

@Townman @Gandalf

Many thanks for the info / assistance - looks like the changes made by Gandalf have kicked in  d/l SNR is now 6.1  - which seens to have added a couple of mb to my d/l speeds which is always useful  -  will keep monotoring my stats  -  will let you know if any problems arise.

Will lookinto that Router stats software you mentioned @Townman  -  FYI  my router is not the Plusnet Hub One  - it is a BT 6 - type A  Business hub  - which fingers crossed has worked well

Re: Potentially high SNR

Thanks for getting back to us @moansalot

Awesome, I'm glad to see your speed has improved now.

Let us know if there are further issues or anything else you'd need help with.

P.S. I hope neither you nor @Townman mind but I've asked the mods to move the fix to me. Smiley
