Re: Plusnet profile update?

Happy to be able to be of helpSmiley.

You might have a bit of a wait on chat but hopefully it will be worth it. There doesn't seem to be that many calls waiting on the support lines http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=212 at the moment so maybe chat won't be too long either.

Re: Plusnet profile update?

Update! Spoke to plusnet who updated profile back to 37mb. Router re synched this morning back down to 26mb. Upload rate unchanged.

1. Product name: Plusnet Hub
2. Serial number: +081441+NQ63016178
3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.226 Last updated 10/10/16
4. Board version: Plusnet Hub One
5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 04:07:27
6. Data rate: 1999 / 25023
7. Maximum data rate: 5321 / 32010
8. Noise margin: 10.1 / 6.1
9. Line attenuation: 39.0 / 27.3
10. Signal attenuation: 26.7 / 23.7
11. Data sent/received: 205.0 MB / 3.2 GB

I am running an rj11 cable from vdsl faceplate to router and i presume the loss of connection is due to the loss from the extension(10m). Do you have any suggestions on the best type of cable to go for to minimise loss. Will the vdsl faceplate connected with an rj45 cable? As i understand it, the loss is a lot less with rj45

Re: Plusnet profile update?

It's not the connector type i.e rj11/rj45 that affects loss it's the cable type. You need cat5e to minimise the loss.

This https://www.amazon.co.uk/Metre-Speed-BroadBand-Cable-Twisted/dp/B008IKVCJW looks like it should do the job.

EDIT: OR THIS https://www.amazon.co.uk/kenable-Speed-Broadband-Modem-Cable-White/dp/B003OSWP1W/ref=pd_bxgy_147_2?i...

Re: Plusnet profile update?

I have two VDSL Modems side by side in a cabinet and I use these to connect them to their master sockets with at least 5M of each cable shoved (and I mean shoved) under the metal cabinet to keep it out of the way with no loss what so ever. So investing in similar may be worth while, but I see these aren't available just now.
