Plusnet installation - Help

Hello I'm new to plusnet, a BT engineer is due to come tomorrow to activate/install my fibre broadband service
I was wondering if it would be an option for him to fit it in a upstairs room? As that is where a laptop will be wired using Ethernet rather than wireless.
I have recieved my wrouter in the post.

Re: Plusnet installation - Help

That depends on whether you requested the extension kit when you ordered it

Re: Plusnet installation - Help

As Jim says, it does depend on whether or not you ordered an extension kit. I assume that you didn't, therefore I suggest that you sweet talk the engineer & maybe make it worthwhile for him to do it. Roll_eyes Otherwise if you have it done retrospectively it will cost approximately £150.00.

Re: Plusnet installation - Help

Normally they will only run simple cabling.  You may do better to have him install the modem at the 'natural' place and run your own ethernet cable to the router in the upstairs room.
The extension cable will have a detrimental effect on VDSL speeds; though that is usually insignificant.
