Plusnet VPN ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

@Bear1, sorry I can't really help with determining the cpu/memory loading for Plusnet routers - I use my own (Draytek 2860n+) which displays that information prominently.

Perhaps someone else can help? Anyone?

@corringham Okay, no problem.  Interesting that you're using a different router though.  

@BryceM61 I strongly recommend trying a different router if everything else in this thread doesn't help to rule out the Plusnet router being the culprit.

@Bear1 @corringham - thanks for the really fast replies.  I am at end of contract so I may just move.  I don't have a fibre compatible modem on hand.  Thanks again.

I did just run it from a tethered 4g connection, and while not perfect, I did get a reliable 8Mb download which is a vast improvement.
