Plusnet Profile drop

Hi it seems my plusnet profile has dropped for some reason it was at 59Mb however  this morning it's at 57Mb , I haven't lost sync as i still have the same dynamic IP address and my TBB graph is still running there is a weird spike in my TBB graph at around 2am I'm guessing this was due to work on the Plusnet network  ?  can someone on the DCT put me back to 59Mb where it should be and has been for awhile now.  TBB graph below

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

That you are still on the same IP address doesn't rule out a loss of sync. On 20CN I've seen sync lost and restored quickly enough that the PPP session doesn't drop - I would think the same is possible on fibre.

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

Hi,
I've updated the profile for you, but it was a delta report that lowered it. I therefore expect it will go back down automatically shortly. Please keep an eye on it and let us know if it does.
Thanks,
Tony

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

thanks Tony i will keep an eye on it, not sure why all of a sudden it dropped it's been perfectly fine at that level for over three months now since my line fault was fixed and my initial loss nothing has changed as far as i can see unless the colder weather and earlier nights is having a effect, i hope this isn't a sign of further loss,  any way thanks Smiley

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

The spike at 3.30am could well have been a disconnect due to overnight BT maintenance. Can you try a single disconnect/reconnect in your router and see what speeds you're getting afterwards?

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

That's a classic sign of DLM intervention.
The short red spike is caused by the resync that DLM triggers, and the extra latency is about right for a first-effort intervention (standard is to set Impulse Noise Protection, INP, to 3.0 and set a maximum delay to 8ms).
The increase in latency is because interleaving has been turned on. Forward Error Correction is also turned on, which appropriates between 10% and 20% of your bandwidth for error correction data.
It was likely triggered by the error rate.

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

Unfortunately we have very little control over the DLM on fibre lines. There is no facility to perform a remote reset on the line,. The following article is a good guide to how it works and some of the timescales involved: http://community.plus.net/library/browsing/fttc-dlm-what-it-is-how-it-works/

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

Hi Chris i'm well aware about DLM and what it does and that it cant be reset at your end what i'm asking is is there a fault with my line or something else that has caused DLM to kick  in ?  something is up for it to act when it's been perfectly fine for 5 months since my previous line fault

Re: Plusnet Profile drop

DLM is there to try and ensure your line is stable at the best speed. If it's dropped the speed then there will have been a reason for it. I can't see anything concerning on a line test, everything is showing as a pass so there isn't a huge problem. As long as your line stays stable, DLM will increase the speed again but as per the guide it might take a little time.
