Re: Ping spikes

Uh oh, HMRC Tongue
Hope you get your new kit soon then, I'm hoping it should make a difference.
For the meantime though I'd hop away from pcl-bng01, It's never played nice with me Sad I'm on ptn-bng02 right now and it's very good, slightly lower pings and I'm not getting that mysterious http slowdown from it.

Re: Ping spikes

I think this is the place to make my comment on my issues.
My gaming is grossly affected for the past week. I am always getting a slight pause (packet loss or lag spike, not quite sure) very frequently when gaming. It doesn't matter whether I use wired or wireless, or restarting the router, playing in daytime or nightime, I cannot play anything without making the players online thinking im trolling them.
Anyone got any suggestions how to fix this?

Re: Ping spikes

I have not yesterday as it was working completely fine a few weeks prior so I did not assume that my settings would be a factor.
I have went through the link anyway and went through all of them except for port forwarding. Port forwarding I have tried for half hour-hour and the plusnet router keeps saying "Sorry, you are not allowed to access this content", so I have given up on that step. With "Packet Loss","Packet Buffering", I get
"Minor Aberrations

Network packet buffering may be excessive"
With details as:
"Network buffer measurements (?): Uplink 2000 ms, Downlink is good

We estimate your uplink as having 2000 ms of buffering. This is quite high, and you may experience substantial disruption to your network performance when performing interactive tasks such as web-surfing while simultaneously conducting large uploads. With such a buffer, real-time applications such as games or audio chat can work quite poorly when conducting large uploads at the same time. "
Any problems here suggests it is the interent provider's fault.
That said, I have tried a "practice game" with League of legends and it seems suspiciously fine so far. Ill wait till later in the evening and give it a shot again to see if it is fine.

Re: Ping spikes

sounds like you have same problem as me  Sad the PN router although ok for most surfing is pretty poooh when it comes to gaming , i had the netgear router before and was vastly superior to this sagecom  Embarrassed
Hopeful i will have my problems fixed by the purchase of a router , i have ordered a ASUS  RT-AC68U not cheap but if i can play and watch iplayer without problems its worth it

Re: Ping spikes

ah alas ive tried gaming a moment ago. Unfortunatley the issues still exist here, albeit a bit less pronounced. Is it a router problem then? thats a bit of a waste of 4.99 p and p if it can't hold up for more than 6 months. Ill probably go check out the other routers and see if it is worth replacing.
