For over a week now I have been getting ping spikes, which means my gaming life is basically dead. I've called up support and been asked to do many things but they seem no nearer to fixing it.
An example of the ping spikes are attached.
The tracert is as follows:
Tracing route to google.com [***.**.***.**] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms PNHUB1 [192.168.0.1] 3 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms 84.93.253.112 4 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms 84.93.253.115 5 68 ms 98 ms 79 ms core1-BE1.southbank.ukcore.bt.net [195.99.125.130] 6 13 ms 11 ms 11 ms peer2-et3-0-2.slough.ukcore.bt.net [62.172.103.216] 7 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms 109.159.253.195 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 11 ms 11 ms 10 ms 64.233.175.90 10 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms 74.125.242.83 11 12 ms 11 ms 11 ms 216.239.58.131 12 11 ms 14 ms 11 ms 209.85.143.66 13 13 ms 14 ms 12 ms 108.170.246.161 14 30 ms 12 ms 36 ms 108.170.238.123 15 12 ms 12 ms 11 ms ************.net [***.**.***.**] Trace complete.
It seems to be core1-BE1.southbank.ukcore.bt.net [195.99.125.130] which is the issue. You can ping this directly and will see it spike.
How do I go about reporting this?
Btw I have rebooted my router, connected a pc directly to the router ports using a cable, connected the router directly to the test socket, tried different cables, gone to the bt speedtest site etc. I am fairly certain the above ip is the cause of my routing woes.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi there,
Sorry that you're having issues with gaming, however that tracert shows no issue, the final hop (which is the important one) shows a ping time of 12ms.
Intermediate hops can show higher pings as the device the traffic is going through is likely not prioritising ping traffic and is doing the routing of internet traffic as a priority. Pinging these hops isn't a good way to see whether you're getting ping spikes TBH, it's better to ping the final destination and see what differences in ping you're getting there.

Thanks for the reply and good call! I'm now having an engineer come out to look at it so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it.
