Periods of very high latency

I have been noticing my fibre broadband appears to pause every now an again. Tonight I started a ping to www.plus.net and noticed strange results. About every 2 minutes the response time increases then goes back to reasonable again. I would be interested to know if anyone else is seeing this of if I have fault somewhere. Plus.net fibre broadband 80/20.

Re: Periods of very high latency

Hi Ben, sorry to hear you're having broadband issues. I've checked through the connection this side and everything is looking spot on from here to the router with the full 80Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. No errored seconds showing and no drops in the last 5 days. When doing the ping tests, are you doing them over a wired or wireless connection? As if wired this could hint that you're getting wireless interference and if your noticing fluctuating speeds there also we'd send the relevant guide on how to best tweak the wireless to suite the property.

If it's on a wired connection your seeing this then could you please do a ping test to a few other sites to see what they are looking like.

Kind regards,

Ben

Re: Periods of very high latency

I am getting terrible fluctuating latency readings. The internet is not useable. This has happened in the last week having moved over to fibre. Really, really disappointed. I have undertaken a number of speed tests and evrything is fluctuating all over teh place inclusing both doenloand and upload speeds but the one that is really frustrating me is the time it take st oget on a link - alot of teh time it times out. What the hell is going on?

Re: Periods of very high latency

I’m having a similar sounding issue. Started for no apparent reason a few weeks ago. The symptom is long latency (10 to 30 secs) every few minutes. Have called support and they have advised the line is working correctly, so has there been a firmware update for the router recently?
