Packet Loss Again

Anybody else seeing this today? Started at 4PM yesterday, rebooted router and modem at 10AM this morning too.

Re: Packet Loss Again

I think I've got it again. Performance dropped off the cliff at dead on 2pm today. Gateway hopping is proving useless. I'm on a static ip and the old network. Called PN and now awaiting call back.

Re: Packet Loss Again

Hello @godsell4

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your broadband again. I've been testing your line and not been picking up any issues:

Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 4.8 Mbps
Upstream Speed 1.1 Mbps
Current and Last 15 Minute Bin Performance
Parameters Last Traffic Count(Upto 15 mins) Current Traffic Count(Upto 15 mins)
Start Time Stamp 2016-12-26T17:30:17Z 2016-12-26T17:45:17Z
Ingress Code Violation 0 0
Egress Code Violation 3 0
Errored Seconds 2 0
Severely Errored Seconds 0 0
Unavailable Seconds 0 0

The connection also is pretty stable...

...however, it does look like the reboot of your router didn't actually drop the PPP session. There could be a stale session somewhere. I'd probably advise to power the router off for 65 minutes and back on again.

@jstallan - Your connection is looking rather flaky from 2pm:

I'm not picking up any issues though:

Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 40.0 Mbps
Upstream Speed 2.0 Mbps
Voice Line Test Result Pass

My best advice would be to test your router from the test socket (if you aren't already). This guide will explain how to do this: https://community.plus.net/t5/Library/Testing-From-The-Master-Socket/ba-p/1322242

And then if you need to, you can raise this as a fault at http://faults.plus.net

Re: Packet Loss Again

Thanks for looking at my issue. Test socket makes no difference. TBB graph looks horrendous as it all kicked off at 2pm. I'm posting this from my phone as BB is unusable.

I've got online exams to take now and starting to wonder what the hell I'm going to do as the current connection is unusable.

Re: Packet Loss Again

Its probably going to need an engineer visit, so if you have not already done it then rise a fault via the Link above.

Re: Packet Loss Again

@jstallan - I'd probably advise to report this to us at http://faults.plus.net if you haven't already.

I'll see what I can do tomorrow to progress this to an engineer, however, I can't guarantee a quick fix because of engineer availability due to the past and upcoming bank holidays. Sad

I reported it by phone late yesterday afternoon. Ticket 140735824

Any additional help in escalation would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Packet Loss Again

@Anoush discovered it was a rogue PC on my network transmitting data that saturated my connection. Thanks for the help

@godsell4 Apologies for hi-jacking your thread. Good luck with the REIN

Re: Packet Loss Again

@godsell4, My tests aren't picking up any significant errors, and the connection is pretty much stable.
