I've also got problems with my IPTV service... using TSReader lite I've been able to confirm that break ups in the TV picture align with bursts of continuity errors and those bursts line up with either dropped packets or spikes in latency.

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

Disconnected overnight (the narrow spike) and now on psb-bng01.

c18f6dbc165926b18a9d438776e831fb-05-02-2017

Windows laptop rebooted (thanks Microsoft) so missed most of the current issue but all the packet loss seems to be between my router and the PN gateway.

Speed is still good, but its looking like its turning more and more into general line instability even through the speeds are good and solid.

148628969013734859413

BT Speed test (fails when trying to update their server ) ..

1. Best Effort Test:

Download Speed : 40.39 Mbps

2. Upstream Test:

Upload Speed : 6.66 Mbps

So although my internet browsing doesn't seem to be affected much by this the packet loss is killing the IPTV signal

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

line eventually dropped and wouldn't reconnect (some error about being unable to bring up the line). Eventually it did and I'm on psb-bng01.

Packet loss is terrible.

Pinging the gateway shows lost packets and each time I lose a packet the TV signal goes.

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

@MrSilver Pressing the reset button on the OR Modem seems to have fixed things for now.... I'm now sitting on pcn-bng03 with no packet loss and a rock solid IPTV picture

But PN have updated my ticket :

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

Error on the line could be errors inside the or modem potentially. They are quite old so my suffer from something like a memory leak or the vdsl chipset may have been struggling potentially. Alternatively a reboot reset the linecard in the cab that may have been getting unhappy for some reason.

Might be worth seeing if pn will send you a hub one as that then removes the or modem, if the problem comes back and a reboot fixes points more at cab problem, if it doesn't come back most likely the or modem.

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

In just over 2 hours since I did the reset I've lost less than 30 packets between my router and the pingbox. The TBB graph shows tiny little blips :

 c18f6dbc165926b18a9d438776e831fb-05-02-2017

and the TV has glitched very slightly twice ( 94 continuity errors in total).

I think I'll ask them to send me a hub 1... or are there any good recommendations for third party bits of kit that support the TV multicast?

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

Now it's just gone really odd:

c18f6dbc165926b18a9d438776e831fb-05-02-2017

But I think that's the TG giving up as I'm seeing 4 second delays on the link from my laptop to the router

TG router was reluctant to let me in and the restart took ages.

Now on psb-bng03 and the rogue single thread download problem is back.

I think I need new hardware.. or a new ISP or both

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

Hi @SteveA,

Based on the GEA test detailed information and the number of errors seen this will be impacting on packet loss

Egress Code Violation 358 19
Errored Seconds 157 4
Severely Errored Seconds 121

2

Certainly should not be seeing any SES.

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

@scrookes - I'm quite sure it was.. but why did a hard reset of the BT OR modem make the problem go away?  Given that my TG router started sulking later in the day I'm wondering if old age is getting to both bits of kit....

PN want another engineer visit despite the line being given a clean bill of health a week ago after the Master Socket was replaced... I'm not really sure what he's supposed to be doing.

So my Plusnet TV wont be watchable AGAIN.... because that level of packet drop causes enough disruption on the multicast that it drops out (dropping the internet connection but leaving the multicast running doesn't make the TV problem go away) . Seriously considering cancelling the TV package as I can't watch it when I want to

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

Try booting the or modem see if that fixes temporarily? Wondering if gettin a hub 1 would fix your problem ?

@scrookes with the number of errors on the line what other diagnostics can be done or faults into btw/or to fix ?

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

It hasn't in the past when its been in this slot.... and I'm getting pretty tired of having to power cycle either my router or the OR modem, or both to keep it running.

I'd be interested to know if the hard reset of the OR modem yesterday cleared the error counts.. it certainly cleared the problems with the packet loss and fixed the TV issues.

The only fix for this:

Was to power cycle both the router and the modem...

Re: Packet Loss 4pm to 10pm each day

I'm seeing those small lost packets on psb-bng03.plus.net (84.93.253.118). It doesn't seem to affect my service as of now (not a PN TV viewer) but it is annoying.

Tried changing away from this gateway 3 times today but the other gateways are showing more erratic speed tests from TBB than this gateway
