Be interesting to see what mine looks like - hopefully they'll put it on my ticket when they update it....

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

Define

Downstream Rate Assessment Reasonable

some of us would almost sell our souls to get 46.4 Mbps!!

Joking aside, it's a bit low for 80/20 .... or are you 55/10?

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

Thanks for the test @Anoush.

Yes @DS  that does seem a little strange, how come I get a "Reasonable" with 68.9Mbs, and @SteveA gets a "Very Good" for 46.4Mbs.

I'm on 80/20 definitely and have always been since I started on the FTTC trial.

I originally had the HG612 modem and a Netgear router. Speeds with this setup were slower than I'm getting now by 5Mbs or so. However the Netgear decided to drop my speed drastically for a week every 2 months, so I bought the HH5 on Ebay.

Should I expedct higher download speeds?Huh

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

@Kevin  Is Distance involved?

You seem to be 376.0 from the cab whereas I'm now apparently 918.1 from mine

So 46.4 at 918 would be very good, but 68.9@376 is only reasonable?

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

From PN Current Line Speed = 66.8Mbs

And from the BT link see attached jpg.

A Google maps distance check agrees with the line test distance.

Last time I checked, my HH5 was synced at about 68Mbs and a speed test was giving about 63Mbs.

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

@Kevin yours could that way because you're within your estimates.

@snadge sorry to drag you into this thread, but thought it might have been of some interest to your/our ongoing issue;)

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

HH5 currently in sync at 69.010 Mbs and Data Rate is 68.916 Mbs. PN High Speed Broadband is still 66.8 Mbs. Shouldn't this be closer to sync?

But speed test only gives... http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=148761542248779667991

I can never get speed tested near my sync speed (within overheads etc) Is this another thing to do with the my "Reasonable"?

As I'm not that far off @Browni  distance I was hoping to get at least 70Mbs.  Cry

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

There's other things to consider - unless you are Browni's neighbour, using the same parts of the BT infrastructure etc.

It could be worse:

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=1487617418868182355

I should be getting 40/2 in theory, but at this moment in time (using the links I posted earlier)

Estimated line speed:32Mb (This may vary between 24Mb and 32.4Mb)

Current line speed:22.2 Mb

and

20.02.17 at 1912.JPG

Therefore, I'm below the lower estimate given by both PN and BT, but not quite there yet for the handback threshold....

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

You never get what your synced at as full speed, this is due too the technology of how DSL works, class them as overheads, e.g. I sync at 40Mb but get 37.5Mbps on speedtests - you always get circa 2.5 - 3Mbps less than your sync rate as throughput, so if your syncing at 69.01 then 66.8Mbps is precisely correct, as long as your getting 65/66Mbps then you getting full speed

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

@SteveA - Didn't your last test (over on the Plusnet TV forum) show no interleaving on your line? Now this test is showing retransmission high for downstream. So I still believe there are errors on your line and DLM has taken action and put a high level of interleaving on your downstream.

A disconnection once every few days is not going to be considered a fault. It probably would not be worthwhile attempting to determine the exact cause of such infrequent disconnections.

How does one narrow down what the cause is?
