Openreach modem keeps disconnecting

Hello,

 

Once or twice a week my Openreach modem disconnects from the Internet and needs a reboot to get it going again, it can happen at any time of the day. Any ideas?

Assuming that you have a separate modem and router you could go onto Ebay and get another modem for not much money and try that . Go for a Huawei HG612 model 3B, which can be unlocked if you want to get to your statistics. Alternatively you could go onto Ebay and get a BT Smart Hub 6 and set it up following instructions to be found in the Router board for just a bit more money and get rid of your 2 box set up or you could get onto Plusnet and sign up to a new contract in exchange for a Hub One.

Of course none of these options may fix your problem but it's where I would start.

Already tried a different modem, same issue unfortunately.

So is it definitely the modem that's causing the problem? What are the lights showing after a disconnect? It's possibly a long shot but could it be a dodgy WAN port on your router? Can you try a different router?

Router is fine, never needs a reboot. Tried two openreach modems both give the same issue, rebooting the modems brings internet back on. I’ll give a different router a shot but I’m not convinced it’s the issue.

I agree that it's a bit of a long shot but it's possible that the router could put out some intermittent rubbish on the WAN port that screws up the modem, so worth a try. It might also be worth trying a different WAN cable.
