OpenVPN - port 1194

I'm trying to establish an openVPN connection to port 1194, but it times out. Plusnet firewall is off and router settings are checked and OK. Canyouseeme.org confirms that my port 1194 is blocked. Technical support on the phone cannot offer any assistance - do I need to change ISP to open this port?

Re: OpenVPN - port 1194

@cjenkins have you restarted the router since changing the PlusNet firewall settings ?

Re: OpenVPN - port 1194

I have 1194 open and working fine with my PN connection.

Can you connect to that port locally?

Re: OpenVPN - port 1194

Hi @cjenkins

With regards to  Canyouseeme.org confirms that my port 1194 is blocked

By default OpenVPN uses UDP so unless you've changed to TCP canyouseeme will report the port as blocked as it test open TCP ports.

What hardware are you running OpenVPN on, have you added a port forward rule for UDP to that device, has the device a static IP on your LAN and have you a static public IP address?

I have OpenVPN running on a raspberry pi with no issues via a Hub One.

Dan.
