Re: Odd TBB test ?

Thanks Tony,

But the tests they have run are testing the line, the problem isnt there.

Ive updated the ticket and asked for it to be escalated.

Hopefully one of the guys will pick it up.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

I can see a problem with Single thread on your TBB test with Multithread less impacted.

I spent many hours testing all my network with various bits of kit only to be told, we can't do anything... then out of the blue my problems disolved into thin air. @Kelly Came to the conclusion it was out of plusnets control (Openreach) more likely then, so I guess it's a waiting game.

@philcecchini  Just out of intrest..

What speed do you get on the down if you limit the speed like so iperf3 -c bouygues.testdebit.info -p 5200 -b 30M -R

Also, is streaming impacted ? (this was a big factor with me) mostly evenings though!

@30FTTC06 , my problems still exists 😣 and am still getting similar results from my first posts .
Kelly has been helping with some testing , we had removed my static IP , same results now I have the Pro add on to see if any difference or to point where the problem lies but no avail as yet

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@rongtw   I was under the impression you was ok since I last asked you, sorry to hear your still having issues.

Can't plusnet get you 2 to run an iperf3 server so they can test Single thread problems directly with you, they can at least say yep we see it ?

As far as Samknows goes, they test both single and multithread, So I assume thats an average of both tests.

I guess it's hard for Plusnet if they can't see the complete picture all the way through the network.

I can see @philcecchini was asked to capture some packets with wireshark, did they ask you rongtw ?

Re: Odd TBB test ?

I found a way to get around it - moved to EE, seems fine there so far.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

Not many good things about EE, mainly negative reviews. Im coming to the end of my contract, and been offered an attractive deal to stay, but if this is not sorted then I will have to seriously consider moving.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@30FTTC06 looks the same as he normal test here?

I dont really understand what they want from Wireshark?

Its really random what happens, sometimes streaming is fine, and othertimes youtube and iplayer stutter.

I have SkyQ and again not really impacted, but I dont watch online stuff that much, mainly the kids that use on demand stuff.

Ive had issues with failed webpages and slow loading of pages, I didnt really suspect anything until I saw the speeds on Samknows dropping.

Ive also lost the usage monitoring again on my account, so something is obviously going on.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

Yeah the test is the same as the others and of course your HTML5 speedtest below

loss.PNG

As for a Wireshark capture... they are prolly looking at various things like traffic they send/recieve VS what you recieve/send, and indeed what class/que type and more. But no it wont show why your getting loss.

What router/modem you using?

Usage monitoring is broke for me most of the time so I wouldn't take any notice of that.

Things seem better this morning?

Has anything been done on the network side?

Re: Odd TBB test ?

No change that I'm aware of (but I'm due a sit down in 5 minutes with the Network team so I'll ask)

Usage reporting isn't connected to anything of this, so don't worry about that.

People using iperf: is there another test site we can use to compare against?  (Just to make sure you're not seeing a saturated link somewhere to that French test site)

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@Kelly Latest test, something has clearly settled down?

The iperf servers wont let more than 1 test run concurrently, so these tests should be reliable, just the international connectivity to consider. I also used a different server in Holland to compare.

Looking at the samknows tests something clearly changed yesterday morning?

Re: Odd TBB test ?

The graph in post #608 and the iperf3 tests in post #609 show the same single thread speed of around 8mbps the graph is taken from a HTML5 speedtest from TBB.

Could you guys not setup a test server of your own with private access or ip's of your choosing for testing in such cases ?

And as far as I am aware, there isn't any Public iperf3 uk servers (apart from bwctl) and I don't see a problem with the 10GB link above being saturated either as the server makes you wait till it isn't busy. as for routing to it, well that's your teams bag.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@philcecchini  you seem to have some sort of delay on your TBB single thread test, are you using QOS or is that a pc or network thing. It's by no means perfect for your line, But I've no idea what your using router/modem wise or pc spec etc, just curious. I see in a previous post that you was using a WDR-3600.

I'm using one with DD-WRT Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r31924 std (05/02/17)
