Then used the old tester, YV IP still running, which gives this:
But using the link given on the old page shows the above results in the new result way, and it actually looks good

@rongtw I think it's a red herring, but look at my previous post.
The top result using their 'new' tester gives erratic readings (upper left image) and the results are normal for me (upper right), as in they all all over the place.
The (lower left) older style test results page was only tested 2 mins later and the other (lower right) image is a copy of the older test (there is a link on that older page to show the results in the newer style).
What I'm getting at is - try the new tester and check the graph and compare it to the older tester. Is one bad and the other good?

But the erratic single thread problem was the original topic of this thread - sometimes single threads would be fine, then they'd be rubbish (and a solid rubbish for the duration of the test) and then they'd be OK again.

That's what I was getting at, I think....
Both of those tests in my post above (using the new and old testers) were carried out with in 2 mins of each other.
I've never had a decent result since joining PN using mainly the new version. The good result only came from the old tester - so the old tester is the only one to date that gives a result I'd expect to see.
I'll compare both again because I'm not convinced one is now good as the other is still bad - hence the red herring.

I've just ran both testers, and as you'll see the first (newer) tester gives erratic results for 1x and 6x
The older tester gives good (for me anyway) results for 1x and 6x
New tester = very poor = http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=1487339657601409655
Old tester = better = http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=148733963625767893870
So, is it something at TTB end with the setup of the new tester, or have PN fixed one part that goes to TBB but the other still needs work, or do all of us have poor connections* with PN?
*excluding the 2 week issue that some of us have witnessed lately.

I meant recently (within the last few days) as both testers were erratic for me in previous (days) tests
I have to agree that there must be some gremlins in the new network - BTwSpeedtest results have also been hit n miss. I know this has been like this for years, but I'm thinking that are these new reports are down to the new network too. Other things that have been creeping on these forums is this odd 14 day cycle, where every device starts going slow but is restored by powercycling the router.

rongtw: we wanted the MTUs to match to reduce fragmentation. (it wasn't a "fix" more of a test) I've sent your wireshark to Dave to take a look at. I'm not in today but Steve and Dave should be looking.

Problems with the performance test are not related to the "new network". It is purely a database issue on BT side with incorrect records following any L2C order placed.
