@MrSilver well what can you say Sad  trying to watch BBC news

Hi

Not disputing you have an issue, just commenting that it looks liek a different issue to the first post. the intial problem that seems resolved was that seemingly randomly the x1 speed test would be 70 times slower, hit refresh and then its right back up again, so wasnt congestion but some other issue. No one has been reporting that specific case, but general slowdown of 3-6x and sounds like you are getting BBC news issues.

Nearly 9 weeks now and all PN have said is Ok its been reported on other ISP ?Huh

ooops again http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=148561378612605827617  just TBB running

Re: Odd TBB test ?

Iirc plusnet commented 2 other isps had the X1 speed huge drop, not that they said any network issue was ok because it's on other isps too.

When I had the X1 issues they were only on tbb and everything in the background was fine, 4K Netflix on to etc was ok at the same time as a random X1 tbb graph.

You seem from what you are saying is just you have a broken connection, so that's different from the dodgy tbb graph on page 1. Looks like you have moved from one issue to another when for most it seems the tbb issue is fixed.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@MrSilver you have a broken connection ????

I have now exactly the same problem as i started this thread with , videos buffering , web pages slow , when i play games it like walking through treacle .

when i see these problems i do a speed test on TBB Every time it says congestion or Rwin , or something else .

PN mooted as it was on other ISP the problem was with TBB or BT , TBB forum stated it was NOT them .

But for some reason PN no longer post here ?? 2 week ago message 267 Bobpullen

Re: Odd TBB test ?

/shrug

ill leave your thread alone 🙂

In the first 2 pages all the slow TBB graphs, all the report on TBB forums were all about massive speed drops.

Nothing in the first post on iplayer and lots of other problems.

All the tests I did over Christmas replicated the TBB x1 70x speed drop off ,so there was a problem that caused your graph in the first post, which seems like it is fixed for everyone. WHen it hit a x70 slower speed you could run another speedtest somewhere else and it would be max speed so the line itself wasnt slow there is a problem somewhere e2e from pc to TBB servers. From what I can see most seem to be fixed of the original x70 slower on the speed test, although you arent getting 70x speed drop you are getting 3-4x less, so if you want to badge it all just as a thread for all your connection problems fine, your thread 🙂 but to me looks same symptons to the user i.e. buffering and speed issues but I think you have a different issue.

I'll un-notify myself from the thread though as doesn't look like its going to go anywhere further.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@MrSilver and here lies the main problem Sad

apart from yourself ,, NO PN staff have even said their famous Sorry your having problems .

they haven't even said IF there is a problem ? so i presume if they deny a problem they dont have to fix it .

Even though i may be they only one posting , it dont mean no one else is having same error Just that this has been forgotten by PN so its pointless for them to post

Re: Odd TBB test ?

Im still getting the odd x1 test result and over the lase few weeks i've been monitoring what services i can use and at what times, from 12:30pm on weekends any streaming service is useless its just constant buffering followed by very short (10-30 second)bursts of viewing, the same goes from 4pm on weekdays.

Plusnet have zero interest in fixing the issues, they cite other ISP's as having the same x1 test anomalies so therefore it must be TBB at fault or flash or Windows 10 (even when flash and Windows 10 are not used)and that means they don't need to look in to it.

Those with slow speeds get the "that's how broadband works" "Its a wireless(even on a wired connection)problem" "We cannot do anything as your throughput is capable of 30mbps" so again nothing gets fixed.

The service as a whole is on a very steep decline, a year ago i would have sung Plusnets praises and recommended them to everyone, now i wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy...

Re: Odd TBB test ?

Well I'll be damned, Plusnet with single thread issues again, that totally hasn't happened before. /s

I'm already done with this, had these threaded issues in the past which were supposed to be fixed, new network was fine for a while and now the threaded issues are back again. Already making plans to move to AAISP when my contract is over in March.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

Past 5pm now lads, guess what? It's getting worse. Pings to certain websites seem alright but I can't play any games or chat to my mates on Discord at the moment as the packet loss is just an absolute killer.

148571152602086260159

EDIT: It's now 8pm and I've done another test, it's gotten even slower and now it's starting to directly affect the multi threaded download, I've also included a ping graph from TBB, I only started it last night but even without a 24hr overview you can clearly see that the packet loss starts around 4-5pm and will keep going until midnight. The big spikes in max ping is a known issue with the 8800NL, it's something to do with the Wi-Fi as those spikes are gone as soon as the Wi-Fi is disabled.

ANOTHER EDIT: 1:59am now, service is rock solid again, literally flat lining. The packet loss actually seems to stop around 10:30pm - 11pm

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@SteveA Okay, this is interesting.

Do you live in the South West? I've just checked AAISP's twitter and noticed that they have reported core network faults on TT lines in the South West, affected lines have severe packet loss towards the evening.

I know we aren't on TT lines, but this seems kind of coincidental? Time frame it is happening seems to fit as well.

It was reported last week so I wonder if BT have faced the same fault and just haven't bothered to fix it yet.

Re: Odd TBB test ?

@NoZephy I'm in Cheltenham... but since the engineer replaced the master socket my evening packet loss has gone and has been replaced by early morning packet loss (4am to 6am)... yesterday was nearly 20% for about 2 hours, today it was much less but still spiked at 30%
