Well I've just hopped interfaces on my router and I am now connected to gateway pcn-bng01, in Colindale and this is the result using Chrome and its flash due to the issue reported on TBB regarding FF, Opera et al.

However, using the HTML5 (I think) speed test again using Chrome I get this!

But using fast.com I get this:

What would really help is not jsut isolated one off tests - we are way beyond proving there is an issue, what we need to try to do now is narrow down more where the specific issue is!

If you have a windows PC just follow the instructions in this post, and then PM me the results, and I can add to a single graph, I think its either certain BNGs or Soutbank that has the problem, I can only test so many at once. All morning I have been hammering PCN-BNG02 with no issues, now onto PSB-BNG01

Definitely not location based as I and others have the same issues at Colindale.

I tried your test on Windows and killed it on the 4th loop through. The first 3 downloads ran at full  speed reporting download in 10M+ and the the 4th one fell through the floor reporting 50K. I killed the test because a) it showed really quickly that the issue is real and b) the thought of hammering my SSD gave me grave doubts about letting it run all day.

I think Plusnet have sufficient info to be able to replicate this issue and that further testing is just a waste. They know which gateways we are reporting faults against, our IP's, the routes that they send our traffic through and just doing the same tests is now wasteful.

Btw don't worry about sd writes, back using 2012 tech tomshardware worked out you would have to be writing 5gig data a day for 5 years to get near its lifespan. If you have anything in the last couple of years you need to be running a ssd in a data centre with near constant read writes for a long time.

Most modern ssds have a drive write per day of over 1, meaning they can do 100gig per day for their 3-5 year warranty.

Also if it is something you are worried about run performance monitor on windows and checkout how many things are read writing to the disk when you aren't using the computer, lots of background services to shutdown if you want to prolong further.

I sort of agree with @SpendLessTime - we've given PN enough to work on : we've proven without doubt that there is a problem with their new infrastructure and it seems to occur on multiple gateways in both locations. I'd expect PN to have used a standardised configuration for all the hardware so the problem (if it is configuration related ) would appear on all gateways.

What I want from PN is for them to admit there is a problem and start investigating the problem and work out how they are going to fix it.

If PN need us to do more specific tests then they should ask us.

PN will not admit they have a problem , Because they say its the same for other ISP,s,,, But other ISP,s have fixed the problem .

The support staff are still insisting that the x1 test error is a Windows 10/ flash error and is not effecting other OS's, this is despite the evidence in this thread showing it effects different OS's, HTML5 tests and physical downloads.

Im frankly now well past fed up with the customer service and the constant lies/contradictory information or down right denial of any issues.

My complaint to Plusnet outlining the issues has seen them focus solely on the peak time slowdowns and ignore the other parts(packet loss and this latest x1 issue)they only want to address the slowdowns via an engineer visit even though their tests tell them one is not needed.

So has anyone pointed someone from PN to the non Win 10 / Flash results in this thread. My wife is basically getting sick and fed up of things not working properly. Suggests the current PN TV adverts should be reported as misleading and deceptive.

i know people seem sick of testing stuff, so far form all my tests on linux iso's, game downloads, dropbox etc. I cant get the 1x mega slowdown problem on anything other than some gateways and the 20mb speedtest.

Others get different gateways and 1 report of BF1 being slow.

I know there is a general peak time slowdown problem too, but on the specific single thread going  slow i've yet to see anything reproducible on another site ?

My line is running at 40meg instead of 78 so i hope they fix that as that seems to break everything, but so far all this seems to have proven to be effecting is the single thread speedtest....
