Noob Fibre uprage enquiry

Apologies for my ignorance  Embarrassed
I currently have broadband through Plusnet, I presume if I upgrade to unlimited fibre extra.
Does this come through the existing BT phone line or will I require addtional installation work by an engineer?

Re: Noob Fibre uprage enquiry

it comes through the existing phone line
note - don't do it through the upgrade process - phone customer options - I am thinking of leaving and see what they will offer if you are going to move your phone across

Re: Noob Fibre uprage enquiry

FWIW I went from £9.99/month for ADSL to £10/month for VDSL. I extended my contract term to 24 months because PlusNet's customer service is not nearly as shabby as other operators.

Thanks for the info chaps  Wink
VDSL is fibre i'm guessing - what speed did you get 17mb, 38mb or 76mb for £10pmth?

Re: Noob Fibre uprage enquiry

Sorry, yes, VDSL "is" fibre. In fact if you want to get nerdy, it's fibre from the exchange to the cabinet and then VDSL from the cabinet to your house. VDSL runs over the old copper lines and is related to ADSL.
We're 1 mile from our cabinet so we can only get up to about 28Mbps (sync - download is about 25.5Mbps at best) so I went for 38Mbps with a 2Mbps cap on upload speed. Our upload speed would only go up to 4Mbps uncapped anyway.

Re: Noob Fibre uprage enquiry

You can get between 41.2 and 78 - there's no saying what it would actually be. If you're getting a good rate on ADSL (e.g. 24Mbps) then you should also get a good rate on fibre.
