No speed change since upgrade to fiber plus

Hi,

I've upgraded from fiber to fiber plus on Monday and while my upload speed is now around 18Mbps there has not been any change to my download speed from 52Mbps.

According to the email when I ordered the upgrade I should be getting at least 61Mbps and possibly up to 80Mbps.

Do I need to wait for the line to speed up or should I get the increase in speed immediately?

If the increase should be instant what to I need to do get my promised speed improvement?

I it matters I've go a openreach modem and technicolor 528n router.

Thanks

Re: No speed change since upgrade to fiber plus

Couple more things to check.

What is your current line speed here https://www.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
and the results of a speed test from here. http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/

Re: No speed change since upgrade to fiber plus

Here is the out put from the plus net page:

    Telephone number:xxxxxxxxxxx

    Phone exchange:HIGH WYCOMBE

Estimated line speed:80Mb (This may vary between 66Mb and 80Mb) - Checked on 2017-12-10 20:57:19

    Current line speed:80 Mb

Can't run the speed test now as I'm at work, will run it this evening.

Re: No speed change since upgrade to fiber plus

After rebooting both router and modem the BT speed test gives the following:

BTSpeedTest.PNG

If I run the speed test from http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk I get the following results:

SpeedTest.PNG

Which is much more like I was expecting. It would be nice for it to be a bit higher but at lest its an improvement.

Not sure what is going on with the BT speed checker.

Are you using Firefox by any chance?

There's a thread here about the BT Speedtest misbehaving.

Yes I'm using Firefox. Running in IE gives much better results 62.81 up and 15.09 down

Re: No speed change since upgrade to fiber plus

Hi there.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing speed problems.

Whilst our tests are showing your router in sync at 66.9mbps they're also flagging a potential line fault so I've raised this through to our suppliers now. We'd expect this to be investigated within 3 working days.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
