No fibre available

Hi
My address not showing fibre no more, had fibre previously and now the cabinet which I'm connected to has the small cabinet joined to it which maybe gfast. On the BT wholesale not also showing VDSL.
Few providers are showing I can get fibre so strange is this.
Excellent!

Re: No fibre available

@Manny7860

When you say BT Wholesale are you speaking about the following site

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

If not, try it using the Address version. Enter your post code only and select you address from the drop down list. You can use this to check neoghbouring addresses if required.

Re: No fibre available

@Manny7860

Something's clearly not right. It's not even showing ADSL speeds.

Have you checked neighbouring addresses? This might tell you if it's a cabinet problem or just your address.

Brian

Edit - just noticed. VDSL Multicast is available (back office system) which means VDSL should be available.

@Manny7860

Right at the bottom of your screen shot there's something about ADSL and FTTC VDSL (which is what you want). The rest is chopped off. What does it say?

It's the same for the neighbour when I do address search.

While a staff member may pick up on this and do internal checks to see if that sheds any light you might like to try OpenReach yourself.

https://www.openreach.com/

If you click through the site you'll find a contact form to send a query.

Re: No fibre available

I'm with BT and they have put a case in for me with OR, they are looking into now. Just wondering what the issue could be. On the openreach website it says I can get speeds of up to 80mb.

Re: No fibre available

@Manny7860

If they've recently upgraded the cabinet with a side pod (whether g.Fast or just more VDSL capacity) then it could be the commissioning has gone wrong leading to erroneous readings.

Re: No fibre available

Yes I think you are correct, it shows the same for most of the neighbours.

Quick photo of the cabinet with side pod.

Re: No fibre available

Hi

Does this look like a gfast pod?

Re: No fibre available

@Manny7860  If the pod was added recently say last few months or so it is almost certainly not a G.Fast pod, there have been no new G.Fast hardware installs for quite some time, G.Fast is basically finished, it was a pointless exercise just for BT or maybe Openreach to claim faster speeds to compete with Virgin media, except very few customers are near enough to the cabinet to get it. At a couple of hundred metres the speed drops of rapidly, particularly the upload.

The pod will be for additional FTTC connections at the cabinet, the change appears to have upset the availability checker.🙄

Re: No fibre available

I've checked the next street where the cabinet is still not showing fibre speeds, so it look like everyone connected to that cabinet hasn't got accurate information.

Re: No fibre available

Morning @Manny7860

Thanks for reaching out. Have Openreach responded to BT yet in regards to Fibre availability? Also, what details are you putting in the BT Availability Checker? I've found that using your landline number instead of selecting your address is far more accurate to determine what#s available on your line. The Availability Checker is based on BT's TAGS database, so no one would physically be able to place a Fibre order if it's now shown to be available on there.
