No DSL light and no fibre broadband connection

Hello I've had intermittent Internet access today but it's now completely stopped. I've reset modem and router, cables etc I'm unable to restore access. I have noticed the DSL light on the Open Reach modem is off so have attempted to unplug and clean the phone cables and even removed and cleaned the Open Reach socket plate but nothing has worked which leads me to think it's an external issue.
Any help or advise would be much appreciated!

Is there a dial tone?

Yep there was a dial tone but strangely after a couple of hours of no connection the DSL light came back on and all works again. Odd.
