New upload speeds

I have been informed  by PN that my connection has now been updated to the new upload speed. This amounts to a "wonderful" 3.8 Mb/s  from what was 1.85.

I have a good regular download speed of 36/37 Mb/s so my connection is fairly decent. I feel the 3.8 speed seems to be well below what I would expect with  a decent connection. I would have thought  8 Mb/s might be expected.

Anybody know if this will improve ?

Re: New upload speeds

What do the estimates on http://dslchecker.bt.com/ show?

Re: New upload speeds

Thanks for the reply.

The BT info is shown below:

VDSL range A

Down  48.2 high    35 low

Up        8     high     5.5 low

VDSL range B

Down 37.5 high    21.5 low

Up         7.5 high    3.8 low

From the above  I seem to get the down speed on range B at the high end, but at the low end on the up.

Do I read from this I should get really about 7 on the up since I get almost 37 regularly on the down ?

Re: New upload speeds

Here's my line adviser, I can also tell you that my line is about 850 meters from the cab, with that said your line looks about right to me. thats just the way it roles sometimes I'm afraid Sad

My Connection speed etc

Max:	Upstream rate = 6266 Kbps, Downstream rate = 47644 Kbps
Bearer:	0, Upstream rate = 2000 Kbps, Downstream rate = 40000 Kbps

	                High Low High Low
VDSL Range A (Clean) 42.4 31 7.7 5.4 27.4 Available
VDSL Range B (Impacted) 32.4 18 7.2 3.6 14.7 Available

When I get my line updated I expect to get around 5.5mbps just to give you an idea. I guess you could play about with cables and maybe gain a bit more speed but your not going to gain a lot more tbh with all things considered.

Might be worth checking for Star Wiring I had an issue with that when I first joined plusnet, when fixed I gained a little more speed, I also changed cables to cat5e as well. But, like I said... for very small gains.

Re: New upload speeds

Thanks again for the info. and attention. I'll look into that star wiring you mentioned to see if any advantage can be gained.

Cheers.
