Hi,Just joined Plusnet today everything went very smoothly.
Openreach engineer could not have been more helpful,he even moved the master socket from the hallway to the upstairs room where i have my computer.
He did not use the fibre extension kit but ran a new line in from outside, lucky he did as he said the connections were in a poor condition.
These are the speeds i am getting from BT Speed Test
Download Speed (Mbps): 73.93
Upload Speed (Mbps): 15.81
So at the moment i am very happy with how the day as gone, hope things stay that way.
Regards Jack

Hi Jack,
Welcome to Plusnet and the community forums!
Those speeds are looking pretty good, I miss the days of having fibre at home!

@Jacrav - that is very good that the BT engineer ran in a new cable rather than use the existing extension wiring. I think quite a lot of the installers will readily use extension wiring where they can, despite it not being very suitable for a fibre connection.
In my case, the installer wanted to use existing extension wiring (flat cable). When I pointed out that I had pre-installed a good quality CAT6 cable (for VDSL2 extension), he used that instead.

What speed tester is that and do you know what modem you have? If you're getting 73.98Mb/s downstream you ought to be getting over 18Mb/s upstream. There are a couple of reasons why you might not though.

It was the modem I was interested in but if you're using the BT tester those figures may be correct (or at least as expected). Try http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html?utm_source=mainsite&utm_medium=navigation&utm_campaign=... instead and hopefully it'll report over 18Mb/s. For some reason the BT tester always understates the upstream for me. I've carried out my own tests and confirmed that the TBB tester is more accurate.
