New to Fibre but still really slow speeds

Have finally been upgraded to fibre and I am ment to be getting speeds upto 35-40 mb but am only getting sometimes 3mb .
I know you say the line wont settle for 10days but even still that seems really slow bearing in mind openreach engineer said the line was testing at 60mb .

Re: New to Fibre but still really slow speeds

Forget the settling period, it's not important.
You are syncing at 53.7Mbps currently, and the profile that I see for you is 40MBit (the difference is intentional).
Can you do a wired speed test including further diagnostics please at the BT Speedtester please.

Re: New to Fibre but still really slow speeds

Similar problem here,
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
2.39 Mbps

0 Mbps 42.23 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.39 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 29.56 Mbps-42.23 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 42.23 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
8.73 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 8.73Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
As I will be changing the location of the modem & router this week end there will be no point in doing a wired test before next week, it's odd as the first day I was getting download speeds of 30 Mbps.

Definitely not!
A significant drop around 5pm could suggest (local/exchange?) congestion - 2Mbps suggests serious congestion if that's what it is.

I'd expect a member of staff to request you raise a fault with those results, you can start the troubleshooter here: https://portal.plus.net/apps/kbdfaults (requires login)

Re: New to Fibre but still really slow speeds

The tap3 tests haven't come through on our testing. I'm raising for you though now, but we might need the speed tests again.

Re: New to Fibre but still really slow speeds

Actually, before I do that, could you create a direct PPP link between the modem and the router?

This at least would rule the router out as the problem.
