Getting 18 instead of 40, which is quite disappointing for a change from a very good ADSL connection . I have a Mk 5 SSFP employed too.
I hope I shall see an improvement, but, please, will someone look to see if there is a problem?

Call customer service and report a speed fault and don't accept any nonsense about there being a 10 day training period for FTTC, it isn't true.

@Gandalf - can you please confirm this assertion?
Thereafter it’s a line fault ... and there is no 10 day stabilisation period for fibre ... so do push back on any wait 10 day answer.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

Sorry to hear you're experiencing speed problems with your new fibre service.
My first instinct is that having moved from a “very good” ADSL service (18+ Mbps?) your PN profile has not yet updated to the FTTC capability ... which (I believe to still be the case) if you have a fixed IP address still influences download speed.
The speed profile on your account is still set to 6300kbps. As you're getting 18mbps that's not having an impact.
Our tests are showing your router in sync at 17.9mbps with no obvious causes.
Assuming you've tried the checks here I'd raise a fault to us a http://faults.plus.net so we can arrange an engineer.

@Townman ADSL speed was 6-7000 kbps
@Gandalf I don't get comment, The speed profile on your account is still set to 6300kbps". Even if it makes no difference, how can an ADSL profile be on a VDSL connection.
I will do tests idc.

Apologies for the confusion. I was referring to the speed profile on your account on our side. This should automatically match the IP profile of the line but can take a few days to adjust by itself.
Due to the way your connection routes across our network this won't be having an impact on your speeds.

Gandalf has affirmed that in your case it has no bearing.

@Gandalf I attempted to use the test socket of my own router, but could not get on line, but the computer network settings evidenced activity @ 72 Mbps.
If I may, I'll take the offer PN's router for P&P costs. That'll teach me to not be stingy!
Can one be sent asap? Please!

When you plugged your router into the test socket, was the DSL light stable or flashing?
I’ll be happy to send you a Hub One router though, this will be tomorrow’s task when I’m back in the office.

@GandalfThank you for reply. I shall await the router. I wasn't meaning speed obtained, more of evidence something going on.
TBH after so many hours I don't recall sate of DSL light, I do recall the WAN light being illuminated, but dull. RJ11 in test socket was difficult to choose whether should be inserted clip up or down.

This thread is severely lacking info!
What are the expected speeds which can be found here?
and
What does the router indicate in it's stats page?

@Luzern no problems, I've sent you a new router now. It should arrive shortly.
RJ11 in test socket was difficult to choose whether should be inserted clip up or down.
A RJ11 connector wouldn't fit into the test socket. You'll need to use a microfilter.
The new router we'll send you will come with one if you don't have a filter.

@Gandalf It came to me earlier today. Dare I put it down to a severe senior moment hour? My Billion 8800NL is in the test socket, but there appears to be no improvement.

When the router arrives, I use it, as I guess I'll need do that for the faulting purpose.
@Browni I hope the above is also useful to you,
Plusnet wae 36/24
OT Noted that against my ADSL estimates is "Left in Jumper", but at my daughter's, who has been on fibre for a few years, nothing. Significance, if any?

@Gandalf and other staff. The performance of my Fibre gives little hope that sync will increase much beyond the MIGALS. I can see no effective way of contacting HQ. Therefore this is formal notice to Plusnet, given at 17:14 hours 29/04/2018 that I invoke my right reject the current VDSL service on my account, and wish to revert to my previous legacy ADSL 2+ service at the same monthly cost and benefits as before.
