New laptop - slow browsing but speed test looks fine.

Had fibre for over 4 months now no problems. Today (same router and kit, Core i7 laptop with 8gb ram, standard free plusnet router) the internet speed has degraded when watching video but on checking with the BT PerfTest I see 65.26 down speed but Ping Latency of 150.38. No discernable outages for my area (NE36)

Re: New laptop - slow browsing but speed test looks fine.

That latency is ridiculous, what result do you get with a ping test?

eg:

C:\Users\npr>ping bbc.co.uk -t

Give it about a minute or two then stop it with ctrl+c.

Please post the summary result.

eg:

Ping statistics for 212.58.246.79:
    Packets: Sent = 129, Received = 129, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 12ms, Maximum = 15ms, Average = 12ms
Control-C

Thanks for the reply.

Had to leave it last night but checked this morning and latency is down to 36ms, I couldn't run the ping test last night but this morning it was around the same result as your example. Internet is running fine now so looks like a temporary glitch, we'll see!

Glad thing are back to normal. Thumbs_Up

If it happens again, running the ping test will show if latency has increased and more importantly if there's any packet loss. It's packet loss which I suspect may have caused your streaming issues.
