Having given the install a month to settle, the broadband speeds have ben generally much poorer than expected.
The speed has topped out at 44Mbps, is more commonly hovering aroung 35Mbps and in the evenings (any time after 6pm until 11ish) will drop to unacceptably low sub 5Mbps speeds. Results from the BTwholesale checker are consistently lower than speedtest.net by 3-4Mbps.
If someone could look into this for me, that would be great.
The hub stats currently:
1. Product name: Plusnet Hub 2. Serial number: +081441+NQ90454231 3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 Last updated 16/07/19 4. Board version: Plusnet Hub One 5. Data sent/received: 4.2 GB / 83.2 GB 12. Broadband username: tang17@plusdsl.net 13. 2.4 GHz Wireless network/SSID: PLUSNET-CHMK 14. 2.4 GHz Wireless connections: Enabled (802.11 b/g/n (up to 144 Mb/s)) 15. 2.4 GHz Wireless security: WPA2 16. 2.4 GHz Wireless channel: Automatic (Smart Wireless) 17. 5 GHz Wireless network/SSID: PLUSNET-CHMK 18. 5 GHz Wireless connections: Enabled (802.11 a/n/ac (up to 1300 Mb/s)) 19. 5 GHz Wireless security: WPA2 20. 5 GHz Wireless channel: Automatic (Smart Wireless) 21. This is not uncommon, I had same a few months ago, similar times.
PN wanted to send out an engineer, I refused as other tests were perfect and no issues during the non-evening time.
All other avenues were exhausted, hot VLAN, back-haul etc.
On the very day I was going to send in the evening yet more BT test results, well as if by magic it came good, no speed reductions in the evening, and to this day its been ok.
To this day I have never been given a reason as to why this happened.

Thanks for your post, @Ptang.
We're sorry to hear of your slower than expected speeds.
Looking at the stats you've posted, nothing seems out of place and on testing we're showing that the router is currently receiving around 72mbps.
As you say that the issue usually occurs in the evening, I'll ask one of my colleagues to run testing after 6 to see if we can locate what's causing it.
If you need anything else in the meantime, please let us know.

Thanks.
It has been particularly slow at many times of the day this bank holiday weekend, perhaps because of heavier than expected traffic at the exchange?

Hey @Ptang,
I've just tested your line and your circuit is currently in sync at 74.1mbps down and 20mbps up. There's nothing coming back as a potential fault or anything underlying that I can see. Are you noticing these drops in speed over WiFi or a wired connection?
Thanks.

Apologies, I have now tested over ethernet and the connection is good.
Are there any suggestions as to why a brand new hub would have such poor wireless performance, regardess of distance? Would this topic be better in a different forum?

I replaced the router with a spare TP-link AC1200 and everything is fine. Many thanks everyone.
