New fibre installation, no increase in speed

I have just had fibre installed and have no increase in download speed but I do for upload (9Mbps Down/ 16Mbps up), is this because my profile hasnt updated? I have also tried rebooting all equipment and I am connecting via ethernet cable.

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

How long will it be until I can expect full speed?

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

The order hasn't been closed yet so we can't test your line.
As soon as we can we'll test it.

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

@rogerdygas
The circuit is full speed from the start (once BT and Plusnet have completed their work of course).
You can check the speed that Plusnet have set your line to at https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed , this will ask for your Plusnet username and password.
I would check this out regularly for at least the first week as it is not unknown for this speed to be set back to the ADSL speeds in the initial week or so.
Also book mark the link as it is not given on the Plusnet website and you may want to check it monthly just to ensure it matches the speed that you are supposed to be getting.

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

I have noticed my line is supposed to be able to support 68Mbps but my profile is at 60Mbps. How can I increase my profile?
Estimated line speed:
68Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2015-09-01 11:51:13
Current line speed:
    60.2 Mb

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

You need to know what speed BTW says the line can get and then ask Plusnet nicely to give your FTTC connection a speed lift if the tests show the full 68Mbps on the BTW further diagnostics page.
Run the BTW speed test and then the Further Diagnostics, which will give you the BTW speed profiles which you can copy and paste here before nudging Plusnet .

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

BT Wholesale speed test says
Download speedachieved during the test was - 59.22 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 40 Mbps-60.46 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 60.46 Mbps
However doesnt this just show what my profile is rather than the max speed my line can support? When I orderd fibre the estimate was 68Mbps I appreciate this is just an estimate but Im very close to my cabinet and the line attneuation is good

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

yes it shows the BTW Profile which is effectively the maximum practical (stable) speed that the line will run at.
If/when Plusnet answer they will no doubt say that an estimate is just that, that you are bang on the profile (BTW IP profile minus 200k rounded down), that you are not suffering any adverse effects and that their supplier (BTW) will not do anything.
Sorry to sound glass half full, but those are the usually responses to these issues.

But please do try to contact Plusnet and see if you can get a different response. I'm just a customer like yourself as are the mods here so you never know your luck.

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

I can appreciate that it is an estimate, but who doesn't like to squeeze a little more out. As far as performance goes I'm right there it's just the profile could be a tad higher.
Will Plusnet not pick this thread up and act accordingly?

Re: New fibre installation, no increase in speed

Unfortunately as georgelnx has stated there isn't that much we can do.
If the speeds were massively below the estimate our suppliers would investigate however it's not that bad.
