Hi i ordered fibre plus fibre extra unlimited however im struggling to get any descent speed to what was advertised.
in my plus net account i have.
- Postcode:
- Phone exchange:
- SHENLEY CHURCH END
- Estimated line speed:
- 80Mb (This may vary between 70.9Mb and 80Mb) - Checked on 2016-05-28 18:31:32
- Current line speed:
- 78 Mb
bt tests show current speeds 55.91 down 16.84 up 1950 ping
ovh shows 56.73 down 17.42up
speedtest 56.5 down 18.86 up.
over ethernet cable, have tried different micro filters, and shortest distance to main socket, but still averaging the same speed.

Hi @sb400,
It seems that you're syncing at about 60Mbps which is below what we'd expect. The next step would be to head to faults.plus.net, and we can take it from there.

Your line is still in sync at 60.4Mbps
Sync Status | In Sync |
Downstream Speed | 60.4 Mbps |
Upstream Speed |
20.0 Mbps |
There was a profile incorrect on our side which is now corrected, so you should be able to get closer to 60Mb/s again.
However as Matty states, your line is still connecting below where we'd expect so the faults team will pick this up.

hi having had a bt engineer come today, spent about 20 minutes replaced main master socket, and disappeared the rest of the morning to the exchange i think, said that we couldnt obtain any more speed than 60, however up on testing the speed is exactly the same as before hovering about 56-58mb.
feel a little disappointed since when i signed up that my line would handle at least 70-80mb, if i would have known i wouldnt have bought fibre extra instead only fibre as im only get half of what im paying for.

I have just gone back to 80/20 as 40/10 is no longer available and I was in a similar position but if I run a direct test from my router the TCP test comes back at around 55-65 down but UDP is 76-78 or so. So the bandwidth is there, just not entirely usable. I don't have any connections with the same hardware that aren't with Plusnet so I can't do any comparisons, but I would imagine that the additional overheads of TCP are the result of most peoples complaints about speed.
